Sutton Kersh Auctions once again held a successful live streamed online auction, which resulted in them selling over £9 million pounds worth of property, the largest figure for a property auction so far this year in the North West. It was watched by hundreds of people across the country, with over 640 people registered to bid and as a result 88 properties sold through this one auction alone.

Prior to the auction day, the team sold an impressive 25% of properties which had a sales value of £3.5 million. So far this year, through 4 auctions, Liverpool based Sutton Kersh Auctions have sold a total of 296 properties, which equates to a total sales value of over £28.5 million.

Cathy Holt, Associate Director of Auctions commented, “The bidding was strong from the start, with the first 3 lots selling over their guide prices. We are delighted to have sold 80% of properties so far, with more offers being made as we speak. It is a good time to invest in property right now and we have noticed a definite peak in interest of residential properties.”

Residential dwellings across the country were more popular than ever in this auction, which could have something to do with the low interest rates and the recent changes to stamp duty. The recent introduction of these schemes by the government makes investing in property a lot more attractive to many.

Lot 10, a 3-bedroom residential development property in the popular Waterloo area of Merseyside, sold for £34k over the guide price and was a great investment opportunity. Rightmove, the UK’s largest property website, recently carried out some research that shows that 3-bedroom homes have become the most sought after property type. This was reinforced in Sutton Kersh’s recent auction by the large amount of interest in the 3-bedroom homes they had on offer, both on the day and prior to auction. 78% of the 3-bedroom properties offered have been sold subject to contract.

Lot 24, a 3-bed terrace in L3, saw a strong bidding war with the final selling price being £37k over the guide. Another residential property which proved very popular was Lot 48, this was once again a 3-bedroom end town house but in the L15 area, and this sold for £43k over the guide price.

The auction also saw more properties being featured from further afield, such as in Yorkshire and on the South Coast. A 1930’s 3-bedroom semi was on offer in South Yorkshire and this was an ideal home for those looking for a property project. It proved very popular and sold quickly. Lot 105 was a 3-bedroom property located in Dorset and sold for £52k over the guide price, with strong bidding ensuing from the onset.
